Workspaces
A workspace is one organization in the Control Center: its nodes, incidents, billing, team and settings. One sign-in can belong to several workspaces, with a different role in each. For example, you can own your company’s workspace and be a viewer in a customer’s.
Your account and your workspaces
Your account is your email address, password, two-factor authentication and display name. It is the same in every workspace:
- Changing your password or enabling TOTP in one workspace changes it everywhere.
- Your role (Owner, Admin, Manager, Viewer, Teacher) is set per workspace.
- Removing you from a workspace, or deprovisioning you through SCIM, only affects that workspace.
- Profile → Workspaces lists every workspace you belong to with your role there, switches to one, and lets you leave one (see below).
When you sign in, you land in the workspace you used last. If you only have one, you land there.
Switching workspaces
Click the workspace name in the top-left of the top bar to open the switcher. It lists every workspace you belong to with:
- a monogram (initials and a colour)
- the workspace mode (Business, MSP, Family or School) and plan
- your role there
- badges for open incidents and unread notifications
Pick another workspace to switch. The Control Center reloads with that workspace’s data and your role there. You can also switch from global search (⌘K / Ctrl+K): type part of a workspace name.
If you signed in through a workspace’s own SSO (SAML or OIDC connector), that session stays in that workspace. To switch, sign out and sign in with your password, Google or GitHub. This keeps one workspace’s identity provider from reaching your other workspaces.
Workspace modes
Each workspace has a mode. It changes the Control Center’s labels, navigation and onboarding copy, not your permissions:
| Mode | For |
|---|---|
| Business | A company running its own servers |
| MSP | A managed service provider running servers for customers. MSP workspaces can create client workspaces |
| Family | Parents managing the family’s devices (parental controls, remote support) |
| School | Teachers and IT staff managing classroom devices |
You pick the mode in onboarding and can change it later in Settings → General.
Creating a workspace
Open the switcher and click New workspace. Enter a name and pick a mode. You become the workspace’s owner and the Control Center switches to it and starts onboarding.
MSP client workspaces
From an MSP workspace, owners and admins can create a workspace as a client. The client workspace is linked to your MSP workspace, and it shows up in your global search while you’re in the MSP workspace, so you can find and open customers quickly.
Joining a workspace
Someone in the workspace invites you by email (see Team & roles). If you already have a Quazzar account, open the invitation link and sign in, or enter your existing password. The workspace is added to your account. Your password does not change.
Leaving a workspace
Profile → Workspaces → Leave removes you from a workspace. You lose access to its nodes, settings and data, and your sessions in that workspace are signed out. An owner can invite you back later. The workspace’s audit log records that you left (workspace.leave).
- The only owner can’t leave. Make someone else an owner first (Team), or delete the workspace.
- You can’t leave your only workspace: that would delete your account. Create or join another one first.
- Leaving the workspace you are in moves you to another of your workspaces.
If you opened tickets or sent invitations in that workspace, your membership is kept as disabled so they still show who created them; you have no access either way.
