The Quazzar desktop

Quazzar Cloud OS opens on a live scene: your node is drawn as a black hole with an accretion disk that spins faster when the CPU is busy, and every app you install orbits it as a small satellite labelled with its CPU use. Everything else sits on top of that scene.

Modes and spaces

The desktop has three modes. Each mode has three spaces you move between with the tabs in the menu bar, the dock, or the keys 1, 2 and 3.

ModeSpacesFor
ServerOverview · Launchpad · MonitoringContainers, domains, monitoring and security for this node
PersonalHome · Orbit · LaunchpadDocs, photos, music and a private AI for the family
ClusterConstellation · Nodes · PlacementEvery node as one system (only on a cluster primary) — see Clustering

Switch modes from the first dock button (the mode picker) or cycle them with Ctrl+Shift+S. On a single machine the Cluster entry says Create — picking it makes this node the cluster primary. On a worker node it is locked; manage the cluster from the primary.

Server · Overview

A one-glance status: “All systems nominal.” (or how many issues need attention), installed apps, the last verified backup and open alerts, live CPU / memory / disk / network tiles, a Molly noticed card when something needs you (for example a disk that will fill up soon, with the space Docker can free), and a live Timeline of installs, sign-ins, scans, backups and alerts. Your widget board is below.

Launchpad

The app catalogue and everything already running in one place: categories, In orbit (installed apps, filterable by running/stopped/error), Docker/Native filter, search, a featured app, ratings, requirements and dependencies. Apps without settings install in one click and show progress on the button; apps with settings open a short configuration dialog. Installed apps offer Open, Manage, start, stop and restart, and updates. See Launchpad.

Server · Monitoring

Big live CPU number with the processor model and temperature, per-core bars, a 60-second load chart (CPU + memory), the primary network interface, disk I/O and a card per disk with SMART health (for example “4 reallocated”). History ranges, predictions, per-app metrics, GPU and subsystem panels are further down.

SMART data needs smartctl; the packages install smartmontools, and Cloud OS reads it through its privileged helper.

Personal · Home

Clock, weather (click it to pick a city), now playing (also what’s playing on your other devices), today’s calendar, a shared to-do list, Drive usage and recent notes, with your widget board below.

Personal · Orbit

Create a doc, sheet, deck or note in one click and pick up recent files, filtered by type, with the people who work on them.

The menu bar

The strip across the top of the screen holds, from left to right:

  • The Quazzar mark, which takes you home, and the space tabs of the current mode.
  • The time and a live load indicator. Click the indicator to open Monitoring.
  • What’s new after an update: opens the release notes and the feature tour.
  • Notifications (the bell, with an unread count).
  • Interface sounds on or off.
  • Appearance, the coloured dot (see Appearance).
  • Lock (see Sign-in & Lock Screen).
  • Your account photo. Its menu has Profile, Passkeys, Settings, Family and Sign out.

Notifications

The bell opens a notifications popover under the menu bar (it replaces the old side panel). New alerts, finished backups, Molly’s insights and sign-in requests show up there. Click a notification to mark it read, or use mark N read to clear them all. When there is nothing new, the popover says “Nothing new. Quazzar will ping you here.” Esc or a click outside closes it. Sign-in requests from another device open their own approval prompt; see Approve a sign-in.

The dock

On phones the dock shows the mode, the three spaces, a Menu sheet with every tool and search, and Molly.

Every tool page shows its group, a short description and its sibling tools at the top; editors (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Whiteboards, PDF, skills, agent builder, workflows, Molly workspace) open edge to edge.

Pages, lists and confirmations

Lists such as Routes, Domains, Containers, Users, Security findings, Audit, Drive, Whiteboards and PDF Builder have filter chips and a search box.

Anything that deletes or removes something (a tunnel, route, domain, container, agent, rule, node, backup and so on) opens a confirmation dialog that says what will happen before anything changes. Dialogs and side panels always open above the menu bar and the dock.

Command palette

Ctrl/⌘+K (or Ctrl/⌘+B, the old sidebar shortcut) opens the palette: jump to spaces and any tool in any mode, switch mode, run system actions (appearance, sounds, theme, check for updates, keyboard shortcuts, lock, sign out, replay ignition), open installed apps, install apps, and search your notes, files, apps, photos, music and bookmarks. End a question with ? and Molly answers inline; Ask Molly sends anything else to the Molly window.

Molly and Terminal windows

Both open as floating windows that you can drag by the title bar, resize from the corner and bring to the front by clicking; they remember their size and position.

  • Molly streams answers, shows which model answered, shows tool calls (approve or deny the ones that need confirmation), keeps your conversation history and memories, and offers quick prompts. Shift+Enter adds a new line.
  • Terminal is a real shell on the node. Ctrl+Esc closes it.

Appearance

The coloured dot in the menu bar opens Appearance, saved to your profile:

  • Accent — Nebula, Plasma, Ion, Quasar, or a custom colour picked in the Theme Designer.
  • Motion — Calm, Cinematic or Max. Calm uses fewer particles and turns off decorative loops; the desktop also steps down automatically if the scene runs slowly.
  • Interface sounds and light theme.

Signing in, locking and first run

  • The sign-in screen remembers who used this browser last. Sign in with a password (plus your 2FA code if enabled), a passkey, Approve on phone (confirm the 2-digit code on a device where you’re already signed in), a QR code, or Quazzar Cloud. See Sign-in and lock.
  • The lock button in the menu bar hides the desktop and locks your session on the server until you unlock with your password or passkey.
  • The first time a node starts you create your account, name the node, choose Personal or Server and pick starter apps; domain, time zone, hardening and Control Center linking are under More options; failed steps can be retried from a summary. See Setup Wizard. The ignition animation plays once per browser session (Replay ignition in the palette).

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? anywhere (outside a text field) to see every shortcut that works on the current screen. Mod means Ctrl on Windows and Linux and ⌘ on macOS.
